Reintroducing Intracia

We've been looking forward to relaunching our web site to show what we've been working on (our site management tools) as well as to make it clearer what services we offer and what makes us different and today is the day.

The site

Over the past decade we've learnt a lot about developing sites for our customers. From content and design through to technical infrastructure and both real-world and search engine performance and accessibility.

It was time to put all that experience into our own site and so this is our new Intracia web site - built with the latest and greatest technology and techniques to ensure it's our best site yet.

High-performance means instant loading times through optimized content and images, a fast delivery network (CDN) and the sort of responsiveness only static site generation can offer. The page is already built before the user asks for it.

Low-cost that means a free GitHub repository running on the Nuxt open-source site stack and deployed on Cloudflare's generous free-tier Worker and R2 services that also copes with scale and the heavy load of modern bot traffic.

Secure as can be - with a static site generation there are just flat pages sitting on a static file host. There are no admin panels to discover and no insecure plugins or exploits that can be leveraged.

The catch with this stack has always been editing and adding new content - more on that below!

What we take on

Intracia has been operating in one for or another since 2014 but because a full-time consultancy in 2020 when we relocated to Guernsey primarily through word-of-mouth and existing personal relationships.

There are four main types of consultancy we take on all in the realm of software development.

• Software development — applications and APIs, designed by someone who has done this at scale
• Web applications & sites — customer-facing apps, company sites and documentation, built end to end.
• Data extraction & recovery — getting valuable data out of systems. Undocumented formats, dead platforms, failing media, legacy databases.
• Developer & AI tooling — libraries, SDKs and internal tooling, plus Ai MCP servers and evaluation harnesses that decide whether an AI feature survives contact with production.

It's a small but focused list that means you're getting experience and value, not footing the bill for somebody to learn how to do it.

Here's where things really get interesting. Intracia was originally envisaged as a tool to help make running a site more manageable and was born out of the frustration at how much more difficult modern sites had got while working on xbox.com. Privacy policies, accessibility, localization, mobile, browser compatibility, speed, search ranking etc. All valuable pursuits but all adding to the overhead of creating a great site and increasing the time - and cost - it takes to deliver one.

We'd solved many of these issues with our chosen stack, technologies and solutions but were still missing some pieces and that's where our new software-as-a-service (SaaS) product comes into play.

At launch our product is focused on the primary pain point we still have today - editing the content for a static site.

We'd tried many "headless CMS" products - Forestry, Tina, CloudCannon and evaluated a few others too but they were still lacking the initial approachability of WordPress. What we really wanted was something that was as easy to get into as WordPress but with better guardrails to ensure the site and content don't start to drift in quality.

Intracia solves that problem with a clean, style-based approach to content editing that also understands structured metadata for content items - the job title on a job posting, the category and author of a blog post - the client name of a case study - and simplifies it into a content-first experience that moves the complexity away from day-to-day operations with smart algorithms and AI-enhanced setup and configuration.

And we do all that without touching your existing static site pipeline. Your content stays in Git, your site stays hosted on your provider of choice, your media assets stay on your S3/R2/Azure container and we just provide a smooth, mobile-friendly, interface to let you publish with ease.

It integrates nicely with Nuxt Content, Astro, Jekyll, Next.JS or whatever Markdown, JSON or TOML-based content formats you already use. We already integrate with GitHub today with plans for GitLab and BitBucket in the pipeline as well as forthcoming tools to help with SEO and site-consistency going forward.

Intracia is currently in early-access and adopting it does not interfere with any of your existing site build process. It's easy-come easy-go and we're onboarding sites one at a time to help refine the initial setup experience to get it to the point where it's practically hands-off.
